In a heartbreaking tale of bravery and sacrifice, a grandfather from Georgia tragically lost his life while protecting his twin granddaughters from a falling tree limb. Manuel Pinzon, 77, has been hailed as a hero for his selfless act of saving his beloved granddaughters, Isabella and Gabriela.

The incident occurred on May 28 at Pinzon’s home in Dacula, Georgia. The twin girls, aged 8, were exploring the forest behind their grandfather’s house when they stumbled upon a baby deer. Upon returning to Pinzon to share their discovery, he advised them to have lunch before they checked on the deer again.

As the girls, Pinzon, and his sister ventured outside to see the deer, tragedy struck. A loud cracking sound filled the air, and a massive tree limb came crashing down towards them. Krause recounted the harrowing moment when Pinzon pushed the girls out of harm’s way, taking the brunt of the falling branch himself.
Despite the efforts of the granddaughters to call 911 and fetch help, Pinzon succumbed to his injuries from the impact of the falling branch. It was revealed that the branch, measuring 20 feet and falling from a height of 60 feet, struck Pinzon directly on the head, leading to his untimely death.
Jason Krause, the father of the twin girls, expressed his immense gratitude for Pinzon’s heroic actions, stating that he prioritized the safety of his sister and granddaughters above his own. He highlighted the profound impact Pinzon had on their lives, as he played a significant role in caring for the girls and picking them up from school twice a week.
The tragic loss of Pinzon has deeply affected the twin girls, who are now under trauma counselling to cope with the sudden absence of their grandfather. Gabriela fondly remembers her grandpa as a hero, echoing the sentiments of the family and community who acknowledge Pinzon’s ultimate sacrifice.
Described as a loving family man who cherished the outdoors and his loved ones, Pinzon’s legacy lives on through his two daughters, five grandchildren, and a devoted wife of 50 years. Having emigrated from Colombia three decades ago in pursuit of a better life for his family, Pinzon’s selfless act reflects his unwavering dedication to his loved ones.
The community mourns the loss of a genuine hero, whose bravery and love knew no bounds. As the family grieves the passing of their beloved patriarch, they find solace in the memories of his sacrificial act of kindness and protection that will forever be etched in their hearts.
The touching story of Manuel Pinzon serves as a reminder of the extraordinary lengths loved ones will go to ensure the safety and well-being of those they hold dear. His legacy of courage and selflessness will continue to inspire those who have heard of his noble deed.
