Broadway stars Erika Henningsen and Kyle Selig are gracing the stage together once more, more than seven years after their initial meeting on Mean Girls: The Musical. The couple exchanged vows in New York City in May 2023, and Erika recently shared her favourite memory from their special day with PEOPLE.

The actress, known for her role in Netflix’s The Four Seasons, reminisces about a quiet moment with her husband after all the guests had departed. Despite the glamour of her wedding gown and the delectable desserts, Erika’s standout memory revolves around a post-celebration indulgence. She fondly recalls ordering pizza, opening a bottle of champagne, and relaxing in a bath to soothe their tired feet after a night of dancing.
Erika explains, “We just sat and soaked our feet because we had been dancing all night. We shoveled pizza in our faces and got so champagne-tipsy, and had terrible hangovers the next day.” This intimate moment allowed the couple to reflect on their day and cherish the memories they had created together.
The wedding took place on May 22, 2023, at the Bowery Hotel in New York City, surrounded by approximately 130 guests from the theatrical community. Erika and Kyle, who originated the roles of Cady Heron and Aaron Samuels in Mean Girls, were deeply immersed in a circle of friends and colleagues who shared in their joyous celebration.
Currently, both Erika and Kyle are delighting audiences with their performances on Broadway once again. Erika, 32, is starring in Alex Timbers’ Just in Time at the Circle in the Square Theatre, portraying the character of Sandra Dee alongside Tony winner Jonathan Groff. Meanwhile, Kyle, also 32, is part of the tribute to Stephen Sondheim in Old Friends at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
The couple’s professional lives have intertwined in a serendipitous manner, as their respective shows are just three blocks apart. Erika describes the joy of commuting to work together, enjoying meals on two-show days, and bonding with each other’s cast mates. The shared experience of working in the same industry has deepened their connection and fostered a sense of community.
Erika expresses her delight upon discovering that their wedding song, “That’s All,” features prominently in Just in Time. The serendipity of this inclusion adds an extra layer of meaning to their performances and reinforces the bond they share as a couple. Erika believes that their relationship mirrors the supportive and understanding dynamic between Bobby and Sandra Lee portrayed in the musical.
As the couple navigates their individual roles in the spotlight, they find solace and strength in each other’s companionship. Erika affectionately refers to Kyle as her “dream lover,” emphasising the gratitude she feels for their shared journey in both love and art. Their mutual respect and support continue to serve as pillars of their enduring bond.
In a world where fame and fortune often overshadow personal relationships, Erika Henningsen and Kyle Selig stand as a testament to the enduring power of love and the beauty of shared dreams. Their journey, both on and off the stage, is a reminder of the profound impact of connection and companionship in a world filled with glittering lights and fleeting fame.
