In a recent interview with Elle, Lindsay Lohan shared insights about the upcoming release of “Freakier Friday,” a sequel to the beloved film “Freaky Friday,” and the sentimental connection it holds for her. The actress, known for her role as Anna Coleman in the original 2003 movie alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, revealed that filming the sequel in Los Angeles felt like a poignant tribute to the areas devastated by the wildfires earlier this year.
The sequel, set to hit theaters on August 8, not only brings back the magic of the original film but also pays homage to the real home that served as Anna Coleman’s residence. Sadly, the property was destroyed during the wildfires that ravaged Los Angeles. Lohan expressed, “The film is such an homage to California after the fires because we shot a lot in the Palisades and in Malibu. Even the house — the original Freaky Friday house — unfortunately, is gone. So I think it’ll be a really nice love letter.”
The wildfires, which began on January 7 and were only fully contained by January 31, wreaked havoc across 23,448 acres of land, as reported by CAL FIRE. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. Despite the challenges posed by the natural disaster, the spirit of resilience and tribute shines through in the production of “Freakier Friday,” adding a deeper layer of meaning to the film for both the cast and audience.
Reflecting on her experience filming in L.A., Lohan highlighted the joy of being back on set in a location with personal significance. She shared, “For the crew, they’re so excited to be working here, where they go back home to their families. That’s the difference you feel here.
