Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Defense Seeks to Exclude Kid Cudi’s Testimony Regarding Porsche Explosion from the Record

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ defense team is making a move to have the testimony of Kid Cudi concerning the destruction of his Porsche and allegations against Combs struck from the record. The rapper’s car was reportedly set ablaze by an “incendiary device” in 2012, as documented in police reports acquired by Rolling Stone. Kid Cudi, birth name Scott Mescudi, corroborated the incident in an interview with The New York Times back in 2023.

During Combs’ sex trafficking trial on the ninth day, held on May 22, 2025, Mescudi took the stand and testified that his Porsche was destroyed by a Molotov cocktail. He received a call from his dog-sitter informing him that his car was engulfed in flames, followed by a picture of the burned vehicle sent by a friend. Mescudi described the irreparable damage done to his car, emphasising that the Molotov cocktail was placed through the top of his Porsche.

The incident occurred amidst a time when Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and Cudi were in an on-and-off relationship in 2011, while Ventura was also involved with Combs, up until 2018, when tensions were high. Ventura testified previously that Combs reacted jealously upon discovering their relationship and supposedly made threats to have Mescudi’s car destroyed.

In his testimony, Cudi expressed his skepticism towards Combs’ denial of knowledge about the car explosion during a meeting at Soho House in Los Angeles with Ventura. Mescudi allegedly questioned Combs about the incident, to which Combs responded with ignorance. However, a few years later, they crossed paths again at the Soho House, where Combs reportedly sought to make amends for his actions, bringing a sense of closure to the matter for Cudi.

Combs’ defence is now contending that Kid Cudi’s testimony should be discounted and prohibited from being considered further, stating that a witness cannot assert that a declarant was lying when making a statement. They argue that Mescudi’s testimony consists of mere conjecture and could lead to unfair bias against Combs, as it touches on an essential issue in the case – whether Combs was culpable for arson.

Presently, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs stands accused of sex trafficking, racketeering, and facilitating prostitution, charges vehemently refuted by him. The defence reasons that Mescudi’s assumptions regarding Combs’ involvement offer minimal probative value while posing a substantial risk of unfair prejudice, particularly given that he is the alleged victim and the issue of guilt concerning arson is a central element of the prosecution’s case.

Inquiries directed to Mescudi’s representative regarding the matter by PEOPLE have not yet yielded a response. Correspondingly, when questioned about the purported car explosion dating back to 2012, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported that responsive records are no longer held as they fall outside their retention period.
