Three Generations of Women Murdered, Ex-Partner Suspected

A tragic incident unfolded as a Missouri man is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, her mother, and the ex-girlfriend’s daughter following a dispute. Armando Navarro Jr., aged 50, is facing charges of first-degree murder, armed criminal action, assault, and animal abuse in connection with the deaths of 73-year-old Sherri Duncan, 49-year-old Jodie Hopcus, and 24-year-old Hailey Hopcus. The Platte County Prosecuting Attorney, Eric Zahnd, revealed that Navarro is the ex-boyfriend of Jodie Hopcus.
The devastating events took place in Kansas City on the early hours of Sunday, Feb. 2, when police were summoned to the 4100 block of NW 65th Street. A fourth victim managed to escape the home, seek help from a neighbour, who then promptly dialed 911. Upon arrival, officers discovered the three women had been fatally shot, along with a dog that had also been fatally wounded.
According to a police probable cause affidavit, the surviving victim recounted that Navarro had been residing in the home. A dispute arose after he was asked to leave, leading to the tragic shooting. The affidavit detailed how Navarro began shooting at the victims after allegedly gathering his belongings. He then reportedly switched to a larger firearm when the initial gun ran out of bullets.

The assailant fled the area in a white 2020 Ford Expedition belonging to one of the victims but was apprehended in Abilene, Kan. A concerning call to the authorities from an acquaintance of Navarro suggested his involvement in the killings.
