In a recent development in the world of theme parks, Disney Experiences chairman Josh D’Amaro has confidently stated that he is not concerned about the impact of Universal’s upcoming Epic Universe on Disney World. This declaration comes amidst the excitement surrounding the much-anticipated opening of the new Florida theme park, set to take place on May 22.

Speaking at a conference on Wednesday, D’Amaro reassured stakeholders that Disney remains proactive in its approach, constantly investing in the long-term success and sustainability of each of its theme parks. He emphasised that any new attraction in central Florida, such as Epic Universe, would only serve to attract more tourists to the region, ultimately benefiting Disney World.
While Disney currently does not have any major openings on the horizon for its Florida resort, it has unveiled plans for a series of new rides and themed lands at the most recent D23 conference. These new additions, based on popular franchises like Monsters Inc., Disney Villains, and Encanto, are sure to keep visitors excited for what’s to come at the park.
Meanwhile, Epic Universe is gearing up to offer guests an immersive experience like never before, with five themed worlds including the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Super Nintendo World, and the Dark Universe featuring iconic Universal Monsters. With over 50 attractions, entertainment options, dining experiences, and 11 new rides, Epic Universe is poised to be a major player in the theme park industry.
Despite the buzz surrounding Universal’s new venture, Disney is also making waves internationally with the announcement of a new theme park in Abu Dhabi. This Disneyland Abu Dhabi will mark Disney’s seventh global theme park resort and its first in the Middle East, promising a blend of contemporary architecture and cutting-edge technology for an unforgettable guest experience.
Disney CEO Bob Iger expressed enthusiasm for this new venture, highlighting the park’s commitment to being both authentically Disney and distinctly Emirati. The resort, set to be located on Yas Island, a popular entertainment destination, aims to attract visitors from across the region and beyond with its unique offerings and immersive storytelling.
As theme park enthusiasts eagerly await the opening of both Epic Universe and Disneyland Abu Dhabi, it’s clear that the landscape of entertainment and leisure experiences is evolving rapidly. With major players like Disney and Universal continuously raising the bar in terms of innovation and guest engagement, visitors can expect nothing short of magical adventures in the years to come.
