Renowned conservationist Robert Irwin is set to take the stage on the upcoming season of ABC’s ‘Dancing with the Stars’, following in the footsteps of his sister, Bindi Irwin, who clinched the Mirrorball trophy in 2015. The 21-year-old shared his excitement about the competition at the Steve Irwin Gala supporting the Wildlife Warriors conservationist organisation at the Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 10.

Reflecting on his long-standing interest in the show, Irwin revealed, “I’ve been thinking about it for 10 years. Literally, since Bindi did it.” Recalling his aspirations from a young age, he shared, “One day, that’s going to be me.” In a playful tone, Irwin hinted at the possibility of shedding his shirt during his performances on the show. “I don’t think that shirt’s lasting long,” he quipped, emphasizing the need for mobility and freedom of movement while dancing.
In addition to his shirtless tease, Irwin expressed his desire to bring a touch of his Australian heritage into the show. “But I do also want to see how ‘Dancing with the Stars’ can incorporate khaki… I need a piece of Australia Zoo, a piece of Irwin-ness in there,” he remarked. Despite Robert’s upcoming stint on the dance floor, the Irwin family recently faced health challenges as Bindi underwent emergency appendix surgery. Speaking about his sister’s surgery, Robert mentioned, “She’s going to be OK, but surgery — out of all the things we were ready for, that was not one of them.” The siblings, along with their mother Terri Irwin, have been pivotal in carrying forward Steve Irwin’s mission of wildlife conservation and education.
