Whoopi Goldberg made a stunning appearance at the 2025 Met Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The EGOT winner was dressed in a sophisticated ensemble designed by Thom Browne, in line with the event’s theme of “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” However, it was her choice of accessories that truly stood out – gold finger caps created by the talented designers Dynasty and Soull Ogun from L’Enchanteur.

Goldberg shared that the decision to wear the finger caps was not just about fashion, but a practical choice as well. As she explained to PEOPLE, “There’s a pair of twins and fabulous women who made these. I don’t have [a] manicure. And they said, ‘We got you!'” Handcrafted in New York City, the finger caps were complemented by gold sunglasses and other accessories including a gold link chain, keyhole brooch with black opal and diamonds, and a variety of stunning rings adorned with precious gemstones.
In addition to the finger caps, Goldberg’s outfit featured a custom black duchess satin dress adorned with an impressive 350,000 matte white sequins. The ensemble also included a white sequin overcoat, a wool bouclé top hat, and black and white patent leather longwing boots. It took over 7,700 hours to complete the intricate detailing on the outfit, showcasing the level of craftsmanship and dedication put into creating Goldberg’s Met Gala look.
The theme of the 2025 Met Gala, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” was reflected in Goldberg’s attire, drawing inspiration from the concept of the Black dandy as explored by guest curator Monica L. Miller in her book, “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.” This theme celebrates the unique and influential style of the Black dandy as a symbol of identity and self-expression.
Leading up to the Met Gala, Goldberg also joined her co-host Joy Behar from “The View” in an Off-Broadway play titled “My First Ex-Husband.” The play, which explores the complexities of love, relationships, and humor, features a rotating cast of talented stage and screen stars. Goldberg’s involvement in the production showcases her versatility and passion for storytelling across different mediums.
Goldberg’s appearance at the 2025 Met Gala not only highlighted her impeccable sense of style but also her ability to make a statement with her choice of accessories. By incorporating the unique gold finger caps into her outfit, she added a personal touch that resonated with fans and fashion enthusiasts alike. As a seasoned performer and a fashion icon in her own right, Goldberg continues to captivate audiences both on and off the red carpet with her distinctive charm and charisma.
