A financial advisor in New York City is facing shocking allegations of rape and torture against several women he met online. The Manhattan District Attorney’s office revealed that Ryan Hemphill, 43, was indicted on 116 counts, including rape, predatory sexual assault, and other charges. The prosecutor’s office stated that Hemphill lured these women to his Manhattan apartment under false pretenses, posing as a sugar daddy on websites like Seeking Arrangements, Craigslist, and FetLife.

The victims believed they were meeting Hemphill for either sex or companionship in exchange for money, but instead, they faced a nightmare of physical and psychological torment. Between October 2024 and March 2025, the six women endured unimaginable abuse, including being handcuffed, punched, slapped, and forced to ingest substances. Hemphill’s alleged actions also involved threats with weapons, such as guns and knives, along with using a cattle prod and shock collar on the victims. Prosecutors even claim that he urinated on some of the women as a form of torture.
According to the release from the prosecutor’s office, Hemphill would inquire about the victims’ past sexual traumas and then reenact those traumas against them. He went to extreme lengths to ensure the women stayed silent, including coercing them into on-camera statements claiming their encounters were consensual. In a disturbing turn of events, Hemphill allegedly drafted a contract offering money to a woman in exchange for dropping a complaint she had made to the police. The release also revealed text messages where he boasted about his connections with law enforcement.

On March 1, Hemphill was arrested, and during a search of his residence, authorities discovered a cache of weapons, drugs, and other disturbing items. The Manhattan DA, Alvin Bragg, mentioned that surveillance cameras in Hemphill’s apartment captured footage of numerous women entering the premises. Hemphill, who portrayed himself as a successful executive and philanthropist, now faces the consequences of his alleged heinous acts as he remains in custody at Rikers Island.

Legal Aid, representing Hemphill, declined to comment on the case. The gravity of the charges laid against him underscores the importance of addressing sexual assault and ensuring justice for the victims. In light of these appalling revelations, it’s crucial for authorities and communities to continue efforts in supporting survivors of such crimes and holding perpetrators fully accountable for their actions. The chilling details of this case serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against sexual violence and the need for vigilance in safeguarding individuals from such atrocities.
