Josh Duhamel, the star of the new Netflix series “Ransom Canyon,” recently opened up about his wife, Audra Mari’s missed cameo on the show. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Duhamel shared that Mari, who he married in 2022, was supposed to have a cameo in the Western series but unfortunately, her scene was ultimately cut from the final edit.

The actor, known for his role as brooding cowboy Staten Kirkland in the show, revealed that Mari filmed a scene with Davis, played by Eoin Macken, but it didn’t make it to the screen. Duhamel expressed his sympathy, saying, “My wife was on the show too. Yeah, she did a cameo. She was Davis’ girlfriend [that] he brought to the party, but they cut her out! Poor thing.”

Duhamel recounted the disappointment Mari felt when she watched the series with him and realized her scene had been left on the cutting room floor. He shared that Mari had gone through hair and makeup preparations for the scene, only to find out later that it didn’t make the final cut. The actor expressed his frustration at the unexpected turn of events, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the entertainment industry.

In a light-hearted moment, Duhamel’s co-star Minka Kelly chimed in, acknowledging the common experience of actors having their scenes cut from productions. Kelly, who portrays Quinn in the series, shared that she and others in the industry have been in similar situations, emphasizing the challenges that come with being in show business.
Despite the setback, there was a silver lining for the cast as Kelly’s real-life partner, Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons, successfully made a cameo appearance in episode nine of the series. Duhamel praised Reynolds for his performance and commended his professionalism on set, highlighting his versatility as a musician transitioning into acting.
In “Ransom Canyon,” Kelly and Duhamel’s characters share a compelling on-screen dynamic as longtime friends with undeniable chemistry. Kelly reflected on their effortless connection, both on and off-camera, describing their collaboration as seamless and supportive. The actress expressed her admiration for Duhamel’s talent and the sense of security she felt working alongside him throughout the series.
As the Netflix series continues to captivate audiences, the behind-the-scenes anecdotes shared by Duhamel offer a glimpse into the challenges and triumphs of the entertainment industry. Despite the disappointment of Mari’s cameo being cut, the camaraderie and dedication of the cast and crew shine through, creating a memorable and engaging viewing experience for fans of “Ransom Canyon.”
