Tina Fey and Steve Carell, the dynamic duo who once portrayed a married couple on-screen, have finally forged a strong bond behind the scenes. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Fey, 54, shared insights about working alongside Carell, 62, in their upcoming Netflix comedy series titled ‘The Four Seasons’. Despite collaborating in the past, Fey confessed that it was only during this project that they truly connected off-camera. Reflecting on their previous collaboration in the 2010 movie ‘Date Night’ where they played a married couple, Fey explained, “Steve Carell and I made a whole movie together without ever breaking through to the other side because we’re both very shy.” She added, “After working with this big group, I feel like Steve and I are actually all-the-way friends now.”

Colman Domingo, another co-star in ‘The Four Seasons’, mentioned that Fey’s introverted nature might surprise people. He shared, “Tina, like my husband, is a Taurus…When you first meet her, I wouldn’t say she’s guarded, but she’s assessing. She sizes you up, figures out her way in.” Domingo also highlighted the warmth and humour that Fey exudes once she feels comfortable with someone. Fey elaborated on her personal growth, attributing her ability to push through shyness to her upbringing in Philadelphia and her role as a parent. She stated, “Parenthood makes you push through because you have to demonstrate for your kids how not to be shy, so I’m better than I used to be.”

‘The Four Seasons’, a Netflix comedy series co-created by Fey, is a modern adaptation of the 1981 film of the same name featuring Alan Alda, Carol Burnett, and Rita Moreno. The show follows the lives of two couples, played by Fey and Will Forte, and Carell and Kerri Kenney-Silver, along with a same-sex couple portrayed by Domingo and Marco Calvani. The storyline unfolds during a weekend retreat that takes unexpected turns when a divorce announcement disrupts the group’s dynamics, bringing unresolved issues to the surface over the course of four vacations spanning a year. The series promises a blend of comedy and drama as relationships are tested amidst life-altering revelations.
Premiering on May 1st on Netflix, ‘The Four Seasons’ is also set to feature guest appearances by Julia Lester, Ashlyn Maddox, Jacob Buckenmyer, Taylor Ortega, Simone Recasner, Toby Edward Huss, Tommy Do, Chloe Troast, Jack Gore, and Cole Tristan Murphy. The ensemble cast promises a mix of talent that will add depth and excitement to the evolving narrative. As fans eagerly anticipate the show’s debut, the behind-the-scenes camaraderie and chemistry among the cast offer a glimpse into the magic that awaits viewers.
