A bride-to-be has left her friends stunned with her unique choice of nail design for her bachelorette trip. Karen Wu, set to marry Nate Nuguid in June, recently embarked on a bachelorette trip in Palm Springs, California, from April 4 to April 6. What set her apart was her unconventional manicure, which has since gone viral on social media.

Karen Wu, aged 28, decided to embrace her playful side by opting for an “unhinged” nail set for the getaway. She visited Blackheart Nails in Los Angeles on April 1, where she made a request that truly stood out. Instead of traditional patterns or colours, Wu asked her nail technician, Shelby Wagner, to use stickers of quirky photos of the 10 women accompanying her on the bachelorette trip, placing a different sticker on each fingernail.
The idea stemmed from Wu’s admiration for Wagner’s own nail sticker featuring Luigi Mangione. Intrigued by the concept, Wu decided to inject some humour and personal connection into her nail art. She selected amusing and embarrassing photos of her sister Claudia, cousins Felicia, Bri, and Audrey, along with friends Jordan, Annie, Rachel, Julissa, Jane, and Jennie for the stickers.
In a TikTok video that has now gained over 280,000 views and 35,000 likes, Wu shared her nail transformation journey. The video captures the sheer delight and amusement Wu experienced throughout the process. The responses from her friends were equally positive, with Wu recalling, “Everyone loved the nails and thought they were super funny.” She later compiled their reactions in another TikTok post, showcasing their genuine surprise and laughter.
In Wu’s day-to-day interactions, the unique nail set became a conversation starter, drawing attention not just from her friends but also from strangers. Recalling how people responded to her nails, Wu shared, “I talk with my hands a lot, so I have had, and still have, a lot of people ask me about them. People mostly wonder why I did it, and when I tell them it was for my bachelorette, they think it’s genius.”
Despite the overwhelmingly positive feedback, Wu revealed that the nail set was temporary, meant to last for two weeks before being removed due to work obligations. She didn’t rule out the possibility of experimenting with similar designs for future occasions, highlighting the joy and attention her eccentric nail art brought her.
In a world of conventional wedding preparations, Karen Wu’s playful nail set served as a refreshing departure from the norm. By infusing creativity and personal touch into her bachelorette experience, Wu not only surprised her friends but also inspired others to embrace spontaneity and individuality in their celebrations.
