McFarland, who faced legal troubles in connection to the original Fyre Festival in 2018, stated that the new festival is scheduled to take place in late May/early June 2025. However, no musical acts have been announced for the event yet.

In a statement released on Instagram, McFarland and the official Fyre Festival account mentioned their collaboration with the city of Playa del Carmen, Mexico, since March to secure permits for the festival. They emphasized their commitment to ensuring a safe and successful event, contrary to reports suggesting otherwise.

Despite McFarland’s assertions, the government of Playa del Carmen has denied the existence of the festival in their city. They clearly stated that there have been no registrations, planning, or indications of the event taking place in the municipality.
Moreover, it was reported that McFarland previously mentioned the festival would be located in Isla Mujeres, which is situated about an hour north of Playa del Carmen. However, the Isla Mujeres Tourism Board also denied any association with the event.
McFarland shared partial screenshots of emails on Instagram allegedly showing invitations to musical artists to perform at the event. Nevertheless, commenters noted the absence of any official lineup announcements. Despite the uncertainty, tickets for Fyre Festival 2 are advertised to cost as much as $1.1 million for a package for eight people.
The original Fyre Festival in 2017 resulted in chaos and disappointment for attendees who had paid exorbitant amounts for tickets, expecting a luxurious experience. The event, which failed to deliver on its promises, later became the subject of documentaries highlighting its disastrous outcome.
McFarland’s recent revelations about Fyre Festival 2 come after he spent four years in prison for his involvement in the original festival. Despite the controversies surrounding the first event, McFarland seems determined to resurrect the festival concept, albeit facing challenges and skepticism.
As the situation unfolds, the anticipation and scepticism surrounding Fyre Festival 2 continue to grow. Only time will tell if McFarland can overcome past setbacks and successfully execute his vision for the event. Stay tuned for further updates on this unfolding story.
