Buc-ee’s, the popular travel centre chain known for its distinctive offerings, is preparing to unveil its first location in Louisiana on 9th November in the city of Lafayette. This opening marks a significant expansion for the brand, which has established a notable presence across several states since its inception in Texas.

The new facility, sprawling across 74,000 square feet, will feature an impressive 120 fuel pumps and a wide variety of food and beverage options. Customers can expect to find Buc-ee’s prized selections, including homemade fudge, Beaver Nuggets, jerky, and a selection of Texas barbecue. In its opening announcements, Buc-ee’s has promised that visitors will also enjoy what it claims to be the “world’s cleanest bathrooms,” an appeal that has significantly contributed to the chain’s popularity.

Buc-ee’s has a strong reputation for quality and service, and Stan Beard, the Director of Real Estate and Development, expressed his enthusiasm about the Lafayette opening. “This I-10 Louisiana location is finally happening, and we could not be happier to be here in Lafayette,” Beard stated. “Buc-ee’s is the perfect place to stop for clean restrooms and great BBQ,” he added.
The Lafayette facility is not just a boon for travellers, but it is also set to create over 200 full-time job opportunities for local residents. The company has indicated that it will offer wages above the minimum standard, coupled with a comprehensive benefits package. Employees will enjoy a 401(k) plan with a 6% match, alongside three weeks of paid vacation.
On the day of the launch, a ceremonial event featuring local leaders is scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. Central Time, highlighting the community’s involvement and excitement surrounding the new establishment.
Founded in 1982 in Texas, Buc-ee’s began expanding outside its home state in 2019. The company currently operates 57 locations across various states including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Colorado, among others. The recent announcement of expansion into Louisiana, along with plans to open new stores in Arizona, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Kansas, and North Carolina over the next few years, demonstrates the company’s ambition to broaden its footprint further.
Since its inception, Buc-ee’s has become a household name, particularly among those who travel the interstate highways of America. The travel centres offer a unique combination of convenience store essentials and dining experiences, making them popular pit stops for both long-distance travelers and everyday commuters.
Despite its success, Buc-ee’s has faced challenges along the way. Earlier this year, the chain received an “F” rating from the Better Business Bureau due to its handling of customer service complaints, with 88 unresolved issues noted. The organisation highlighted that customer satisfaction ratings are influenced by factors such as responsiveness and transparency, indicators that Buc-ee’s must improve upon.
Nevertheless, Buc-ee’s continues to maintain a strong presence in the public eye. According to the 2025 American Customer Satisfaction Index for convenience stores, it ranked fifth overall. Additionally, the chain proudly claimed the number one position among quick-service restaurants in recent dunnhumby rankings, reflecting its ongoing efforts to provide excellent service and quality products to customers.
With the Lafayette location set to open next month, Buc-ee’s is poised to make a significant impact on the local economy while delivering its renowned service to Louisiana residents and visitors alike.
