A former teacher from New Jersey has entered a guilty plea in a case involving the sexual abuse of a student over a protracted period of time. The Cape May Prosecutor’s Office announced on Friday, 30 October 2023, that Caron had pleaded guilty following an investigation initiated after claims surfaced regarding her inappropriate relationship with a male student. Caron was formally charged on 15 January 2025 and later indicted in June after an inquiry led by the Special Victims Unit of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
The investigation revealed that Caron allegedly began abusing the victim when he was just 11 years old. Reports indicate that she gave birth to a daughter in 2019 when the victim was 13 years old and Caron was 27. The victim’s sister reported to investigators that her brother claimed to be the father of the child, raising further questions about the nature of their relationship.

According to legal documents, during the timeframe of the abuse, the victim often spent time at Caron’s home and eventually began living there full-time in 2016, though the reasons for this arrangement remain unclear.
As part of her guilty plea, Caron has been sentenced to five years in New Jersey State Prison. The plea also requires her to surrender her teaching licence and prohibits her from holding any future public employment. In addition, she is to be evaluated at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center to assess whether she exhibits compulsive or repetitive behaviours, potentially influencing her sentence further.
Caron’s case has drawn significant attention due to the disturbing nature of the allegations and the impact on the victim and their family. Following her prison term, she will be obligated to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and will be under Parole Supervision for life, highlighting the long-term ramifications of her actions.
Sentencing for Caron is scheduled to take place on 8 January 2027, where the court will formalise her punishment. The case has ignited conversations around safeguarding and the responsibility of educational institutions in preventing such abuses.
The Cape May Prosecutor’s Office has urged anyone who has experienced or knows someone who has been affected by sexual assault to reach out for support. Individuals can contact the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE or visit the RAINN website for further assistance.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of young people and the critical importance of protective measures in educational settings. As this case progresses, it underscores the need for vigilance and the establishment of proper protocols to safeguard the welfare of students.
