Rory Culkin, well-known for his roles in various film and television projects, recently opened up about the transformative experience of fatherhood following the birth of his daughter, Havoc Moon, in May. The actor attended the New York City premiere of his Apple TV thriller series, ‘Nocturne’, on October 20, where he shared insights into his new life as a parent.
Culkin, now 37, spoke candidly with PEOPLE about the joys and challenges of fatherhood. “Fatherhood has been lovely. Really such a pleasure,” he described, acknowledging the difficulties that come with parenting but emphasising that the overwhelming love he feels for his child far outweighs those challenges.

The star explained that everyday experiences have taken on new significance since Havoc’s arrival. “Certain movies will hit harder now,” he noted. “Having a child introduces you to time, and now everything just feels a little heavier.” He reflected on the emotional impact of parting from his daughter, stating that saying goodbye often leaves him feeling choked up on the train. “There’s just more gravity now, you know?” he said.

Interestingly, Culkin revealed that his renowned brothers, Macaulay and Kieran Culkin, also gave him sage advice as he prepared for parenting. “Their advice was, ‘You’ll figure it out. Everyone does… So, you know, just don’t worry,’ ” he recounted, indicating that their support added to his confidence as a new father.
As Halloween approaches, Culkin also shared that they do not plan any major family festivities this year. With a young baby, he expects to keep things simple: “I got this little baby, so it’s not like we can go out or anything. We’re just gonna dress her up in something and then take a couple pictures and go to bed,” he explained.
In addition to discussing his personal life, Culkin spoke about his role in ‘Nocturne’, a psychological thriller that features an impressive cast including Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz, and Stephen Graham. The actor highlighted his developing friendship with Graham, which he believes enhanced their on-screen chemistry. “Stephen and I became really close,” he shared. “We went to the theatre. We would go to museums together.”
Culkin noted that their off-set discussions fostered a level of familiarity that contributed positively to their performances. “The friendlier you are with an actor, the harder you can go onscreen,” he said, indicating that this rapport allowed for a more compelling display of emotions in their scenes together.
The series, which Culkin described as both thrilling and intricate, premiered on October 30, with the first two episodes already available for viewers. New episodes of ‘Nocturne’ will be released weekly, culminating in a special Christmas finale on December 25.
As Culkin navigates the complexities of parenthood alongside his blossoming career, he seems to be embracing this new chapter with both joy and reflection. As he prepares to future-proof his family life, his insights on love, responsibility, and creativity serve as a testament to the profound effect that becoming a parent can have on an individual’s both personal and professional life.
