Authorities in Colorado are currently seeking information regarding the disappearance of 28-year-old Mark Thiebaut Jr. from Grand Lake. Mark’s GMC Sierra was discovered abandoned in early October close to a vacation rental in the Estes Valley, prompting a search by local law enforcement and volunteer groups.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office reported on 28th October that the truck was located parked in the 700 block of Goblins Castle Road. It was noted that Mark had been renting a nearby holiday home at the time of his disappearance. Unfortunately, by the time authorities began their inquiries, the vacation property had already been occupied by new guests.

Concerns about Thiebaut Jr.’s well-being heightened when family members reached out to law enforcement after not hearing from him for over a week. Investigators confirmed that the truck was parked at the site; however, there was no evidence to suggest where he might have gone after leaving it.

A press statement from the sheriff’s office indicated that, at this stage, there is no indication of foul play in relation to Thiebaut Jr.’s disappearance. Despite thorough searches conducted by multiple agencies, including the use of trained search dogs, efforts to locate him have thus far proven unsuccessful.
The coordinated search efforts have ramped up significantly, involving both trained professionals and local volunteers, who dedicated time and resources to comb the area for any signs of the missing man. Unfortunately, as the search lacked sufficient leads about Thiebaut Jr.’s potential whereabouts, the team announced they would be suspending active search operations.
In their release, the sheriff’s office stated, “Due to the lack of information about his potential whereabouts or intended travel, search efforts were suspended. However, investigators will resume follow-up on any leads should additional information become available.” This decision underscores the ongoing need for any clues or tips regarding Thiebaut Jr.’s last known movements.
As the investigation continues, authorities are appealing to the public for assistance. They encourage anyone with details pertaining to Thiebaut Jr.’s location or intended destination to come forward. Respondents can contact Investigator Brent Manley at the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office directly at 970-498-5336.
The community of Grand Lake is intertwined with Thiebaut Jr.’s story, and there remains a palpable concern for his safety. Friends, family, and residents alike are hopeful that new information will surface to help locate him. The situation highlights not only the efforts of law enforcement but also the collective concern of a community rallying for one of its own.
As investigators await new leads, the case serves as a reminder of the complexities involved in search and recovery operations, especially when there are no clear indicators of what might have happened. Each day that passes without news only intensifies the urgency for closure and clarity for Thiebaut Jr.’s family and friends.
