Former MTV Host Matt Pinfield Hospitalised After Suffering Major Stroke

Matt Pinfield, a familiar face from his time as an MTV VJ, is currently in the hospital following a severe stroke according to reports. The 63-year-old experienced the health crisis on January 6 due to ongoing health issues, as detailed by Rolling Stone. The Los Angeles radio station, KCSN, where Pinfield had a show, announced his absence on January 7. They mentioned in a Facebook post that the renowned DJ would be taking temporary leave, stating: “We fully support Matt and hope to have his energetic rock n’ roll knowledge back on the air soon.”

Moreover, KLOS, another radio station where Pinfield was a host, also expressed their support for his recovery journey. They released a statement conveying their well wishes for him to rest and heal during this period. The company, along with his family, girlfriend, and fans, extended their solidarity towards his recuperation. Pinfield’s daughter, Jessica, took legal action by filing for temporary conservatorship shortly after his stroke. She expressed concerns regarding his ability to manage his health and finances in court documents, citing his alleged incapacity to make decisions.

This is not the first health scare for Pinfield, as in 2018, he was struck by a car in Los Angeles while crossing the street, leading to hospitalization at Cedars-Sinai Hospital. He was treated for a broken leg and head lacerations at the time. The former MTV personality has also been candid about his battles with substance abuse and heart problems, which resulted in his stint in rehab in 2017. Pinfield disclosed his struggle with Atrial Fibrillation (AFib), a heart condition that can have severe consequences if not managed carefully.
