The beloved film franchise “Grown Ups,” which originally entertained audiences in 2010 with its sequel following in 2013, is set for a new chapter as the young stars unite once more. Jake Goldberg, who portrayed Greg Feder in the films, took to Instagram recently to share a heartwarming clip featuring several of his former co-stars. The video reflects the camaraderie that has persisted among them, even after more than a decade since the last film’s release.

The clip features Goldberg, who is now 30, and his former co-stars Alexys Sanchez (Becky Feder, 23), Kaleo Elam (Ronnie McKenzie, 18), Ada-Nicole Sanger (Donna Lamonsoff, 28), as well as twin brothers Frank and Morgan Gingerich (Bean Lamonsoff, both 22). In the video, they are seen enjoying each other’s company and taking playful poses for the camera. Accompanying the video, Goldberg expressed his affection for the group, stating, “I love these people with my whole heart. Missing a few but they are always with us,” and included references to some of their absent friends and a tribute to Cameron Boyce, who sadly passed away in 2019.

Cameron Boyce played the endearing character Keith in both “Grown Ups” films. Adam Sandler, the franchise’s producer and star, has made it a point to honour Boyce’s memory in subsequent projects. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sandler revealed how they included a clip from Boyce’s Disney Channel series “Jessie” in “Happy Gilmore 2” as a heartfelt tribute, wanting to keep him as part of their family.

As for the new film, titled “Grown Ups 3,” it is scheduled for release in the summer of 2027. Adam Sandler will reunite with his ensemble cast, including Kevin James, David Spade, Chris Rock, and Rob Schneider, who are all reprising their roles. Sandler will portray Lenny Feder alongside his on-screen wife, Jackie, played by Salma Hayek. Their two daughters, Sunny and Sadie, are also expected to feature in the film.
The script for “Grown Ups 3” has been penned by Sandler and Tim Herlihy, while Jackie Sandler serves as a producer. Kyle Newacheck, previously involved with the franchise in “Murder Mystery” and “Happy Gilmore 2,” is on board as the director. Kevin James shared his excitement about the upcoming film on the Brad Galli Show, expressing that anything Sandler touches tends to be significant in scale.
The plot of “Grown Ups 3” promises to embrace the theme of adulthood, as the characters finally embark on what they refer to as the “ultimate adventure.” This is a refreshing transition, as fans recall that the original film focused on five childhood friends reuniting over a long weekend. The backstory involves their gathering to honour the memory of their junior high basketball coach, and the sequel charted their hilarious escapades as Lenny and his family returned to his hometown.
Furthermore, several familiar faces will be returning to the franchise in this third installment. Maria Bello reprises her role as Eric’s wife, Sally, while Maya Rudolph and Joyce Van Patten will return as Kurt’s and Rob’s wives, respectively. Steve Buscemi is also back as the eccentric Wiley, and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal will once again portray Officer Fluzoo, a local police officer with a penchant for comedic blunders.
Fans can also expect new characters to be introduced, with Bailee Madison, Deon Cole, and Julie Bowen joining the cast. This fresh infusion of talent promises to add a new layer to the franchise, blending the nostalgia of the original cast with new dynamics.
As excitement builds for “Grown Ups 3,” the recent reunion of former child stars serves as a reminder of the enduring bonds created during their time in the franchise. With a mix of returning favourites and fresh faces, the film aims to capture the hearts of both long-time fans and a new generation of viewers. As the release date approaches, anticipation for more family-centric antics and heartwarming moments mounts, signalling yet another summer of laughter and good times.
