In the lead-up to a wedding, such unforeseen hurdles can be a source of stress, but for Siobhán Deering, a last-minute transportation hiccup turned into a memorable moment. On her wedding day in Massachusetts, just twenty minutes before her ceremony was set to begin, Deering found herself unexpectedly stranded at an inn with her father, pondering how to make it to the church on time.

The couple were poised and ready, but a miscommunication with the limousine company left them with no means of transport. As her wedding party sped off in a party bus, panic began to set in for the 28-year-old bride. “My dad and I were waiting for our limo to arrive when we realised it wasn’t coming,” Deering recounted. A quick phone call to her mother, who was already at the church, set the wheels in motion for a swift rescue.

With time running short, both mother and daughter shared a collective sense of urgency. “My mom reassured me she was on her way and I felt relieved,” Deering said. The duo arrived just in time for an impromptu ride with her parents. The combination of love, laughter, and a hint of nostalgia filled the car as they set off towards the church.
Reflecting on the emotional ride, Deering couldn’t help but liken the experience to being driven to school. “I pulled out my phone and recorded a video for my husband to remember the moment,” she shared. “I thought of all the days my parents drove me to school, never knowing it was the last time. This felt like a full circle moment.”
Siobhán expressed deep gratitude for her relationships with both of her parents. Over the years, their bond has strengthened, particularly since her marriage. “You gain a deeper respect for the sacrifices and love that shaped your upbringing when you start your own family,” she told PEOPLE. With her parents now grandparents, her admiration and appreciation for them has only deepened.
Despite the unexpected delay, Deering reflected fondly on the remainder of the celebration. “The rest of the wedding was spectacular,” she noted, highlighting the beautiful Catholic Mass that marked the highlight of her day. Following the ceremony, a lively reception filled with dancing ensued, much to Deering’s delight. “It surprised me how much everyone was keen to dance; our DJ even mentioned it was the longest wedding reception he’d ever overseen.”
In crafting her special day, Deering ensured it was imbued with personal touches that made it all the more significant. Her choice of photographer and videographer reflected the close relationships she maintains with colleagues turned friends. “We even had an artist to draw guest portraits,” she recalled. She also shared poignant memories, such as a special first look with her father and an emotional father-daughter dance to ABBA’s ‘Slipping Through My Fingers.’ Her mother played an essential role by helping Deering into her wedding gown and was notably honoured with a dedication of the bridal bouquet.
Beyond personal touches, the wedding epitomised love and camaraderie between families and friends. “There was so much love woven throughout our day,” she expressed. Guests continue to share their thoughts on how special and enjoyable the wedding was, affirming that it resonated with everyone involved.
In recounting the day, Deering concluded with a sense of satisfaction. “After everything, I wouldn’t change a thing!” Her wedding day, despite its frantic start, blossomed into a celebration marked by joy, love, and cherished memories, reminding her that sometimes, the most unexpected moments create the most lasting impressions.
