In a delightful development for fans of C.S. Lewis’s beloved works, HarperCollins Publishers and Netflix have announced a new publishing initiative celebrating the release of Greta Gerwig’s film adaptation of *Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew*. This collaboration introduces a collection of special edition books and box sets, as well as a graphic novel, set to take readers back to the enchanting world of Narnia.

Scheduled to hit cinemas on 12 February 2027, Gerwig’s adaptation marks the first cinematic interpretation of *The Magician’s Nephew*, originally published in 1955, and is part of the broader *Chronicles of Narnia* series. Introduced by Lewis with *The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe* in 1950, the entire series has captivated audiences worldwide, selling over 120 million copies to date.
As part of this new project, HarperCollins will release a film tie-in edition of *The Magician’s Nephew* along with a specially designed paperback box set that encompasses all seven tales of the *Chronicles of Narnia*. Both of these products are set to launch on 10 November 2023, allowing fans to enjoy the magic of the series as they prepare for the movie’s release.
Moreover, a hardback box set featuring the movie tie-in versions of the books will be available from 24 November, with individual titles also set for release as of 17 November. Additional enticements include a deluxe collector’s edition of *The Magician’s Nephew*, which is expected to become a cherished item for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Alongside these editions, HarperCollins will offer exclusive copies of the deluxe collector’s edition along with unique slipcase editions available through TikTok and Epic Readers, both launching on the same day as the individual titles. The initiative additionally features a graphic novel adaptation of *The Magician’s Nephew*, illustrated by noted artist Ben Hatke, which will be released on 12 January 2027.
Liate Stehlik, CEO and Publisher of HarperCollins, expressed enthusiasm for the project. “We are proud to be the publishers of *The Chronicles of Narnia* and thrilled to be launching a robust range of materials in support of *Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew*,” Stehlik stated. Her remarks highlight the importance of this initiative in bringing the timeless story to a new generation of readers while also complementing its film adaptation.
The film adaptation itself boasts an impressive cast, including Oscar-winners Meryl Streep and Daniel Craig, alongside actors Carey Mulligan and Emma Mackey. This star-studded line-up has generated significant anticipation among fans, especially considering the long history of Narnia adaptations, of which this will be the first cinematic rendering of Lewis’s initial tale set within the Narnia universe.
Vincent Sieber-Smith, Managing Director of the C.S. Lewis Company, lauded Gerwig’s vision for the project. He noted that her commitment to capturing the essence of Lewis’s world has permeated every detail of the production. “We’re excited for audiences everywhere to experience her vision — and also share the magic of Narnia with a whole new generation of readers through these new editions and covers,” Sieber-Smith remarked.
As excitement builds for the release of both Gerwig’s film and the associated books, the new editions are already available for preorder. This project serves as a reminder of the enduring legacy of C.S. Lewis’s works and their ability to engage audiences, both young and old, across multiple formats.
As the launch dates for these engaging new titles draw closer, literary and film enthusiasts alike look forward to re-entering the fantastical realm of Narnia, with HarperCollins and Netflix leading the charge in reviving the magic of these timeless stories for modern audiences.
