In a groundbreaking initiative designed to support young talent in the entertainment industry, former Nickelodeon executive Lilah Kojoori has partnered with a host of former child stars to create the Next Generation Collective (NGC). This new organisation aims to provide vital resources for young performers and content creators as they navigate the complexities of a career in the public eye.

The founding board boasts a remarkable line-up, including names such as Kel Mitchell, Logan Henderson, Soleil Moon Frye, and Isabela Merced. These individuals, all of whom have experienced the unique challenges of growing up in the spotlight, have pledged their time to ensure that the next generation of artists can flourish amid the pressures of fame.

Logan Henderson shared his thoughts on the initiative, emphasising the profound impact of his childhood experience in the industry. “Big Time Rush changed my life, and I will forever be grateful for the opportunity I was given,” he stated. He highlighted the challenges that young performers face while trying to establish their identities in a demanding environment, expressing hope that the Next Generation Collective will enable young artists to find fulfilling and sustainable paths in their careers.

Kel Mitchell echoed these sentiments, stating, “Having been in this industry as a young performer, I understand the pressures that come with it. The wellbeing of young artists is just as important as their talent.” His commitment to encouraging youth to prioritise their mental, spiritual, and physical health resonates deeply within the core mission of the Collective.
The Next Generation Collective is intentionally designed to cater to the needs of young performers, their families, and the professionals who guide them. The Collective will offer practical advice on key issues such as mental health, setting boundaries, and the realities of working in a high-pressure environment, from filming sets to performing in front of large audiences. This comprehensive approach also extends to studios, production companies, and agencies involved in the management of young talent.
Kojoori, who has dedicated two decades to supporting young performers, has recognised the need for a strong support framework in the industry. She remarked, “Young people in entertainment often grow up in the public eye, and they deserve real support along the way.” The Collective seeks to empower both the young artists and their families through resources aligned with clinically informed mental health initiatives.
The Next Generation Collective is working alongside The Kids Mental Health Foundation to ensure that its resources are grounded in evidence-based practices. Dr. Ariana Hoet, a paediatric psychologist and Executive Clinical Director of the Foundation, expressed excitement regarding the initiative’s thoughtful approach, emphasising the importance of learning from the community it aims to serve.
Furthermore, Hollywood & Mind, co-founded by veteran entertainment journalist Cathy Applefeld Olson, has joined the effort. Their collaboration will not only bolster the Collective’s reach throughout the industry but will also provide access to valuable programming, ensuring that young people and their support teams can thrive both personally and professionally. Olson stated, “Supporting the wellbeing of those who work in entertainment is at the heart of our mission. We’re thrilled to be a founding partner of Next Generation Collective.”
Looking ahead, the Next Generation Collective plans to roll out a series of expert-informed resources beginning in 2027. These tools will encompass educational materials and support mechanisms designed to assist young artists, their families, and the various professionals shaping their careers.
In what can be seen as a significant step towards improving the mental health and overall wellbeing of young performers, the Next Generation Collective promises to fill a crucial gap in the support available to emerging talents in the entertainment industry. With the backing of experienced advisors and a commitment to prioritising young people’s welfare, this initiative has the potential to make a lasting impact on the lives of those who dare to dream in the world of entertainment.
