On a bright June day in 2026, SKYLAKE Adventures officially opened its doors, inviting families to embrace the joys of outdoor activity at a newly developed adventure park in Sheridan, Indiana. The park features a six-acre lake, alongside two interactive water obstacle courses, creating a unique recreational space that aims to reconnect families with the great outdoors.

The inspiration behind SKYLAKE Adventures came from co-founder Sean Howard’s personal experience during his son’s 11th birthday celebration. A trip to a floating obstacle course at France Park in Logansport sparked a revelation for Howard. “I watched as kids, including my children, delighted in the freedom to explore and engage without the interruptions of long queues or the stress of traditional amusement parks,” he reflected. The sight of grandparents and parents enjoying playtime with their children was a heartening reminder of the joys of family interaction.

Encouraged by his observations, Howard approached his friend, Phil Sack, who owned a large tract of land initially earmarked for a lodge. Together, they envisioned transforming 133 acres of farmland into a vibrant family-friendly attraction. “We realised we were onto something significant,” Sack remarked, recalling the swift decision to expand the project beyond their initial plans.

In July 2025, ground was broken for what would become SKYLAKE Adventures. The ambitious project faced a daunting challenge: there was no lake to begin with. However, in an impressive display of determination and teamwork, Howard and Sack, alongside their contractors, completed the excavation and landscape work in a mere 10-and-a-half months. “We turned cornfields into a thriving oasis,” Sack noted, pride evident in his voice. The newly formed lake, reaching depths of 18 feet, boasts crystal-clear waters perfect for summer fun.
June 2026 saw the park’s grand opening, greeted with much anticipation from the community and visitors beyond. The first summer season brought a wave of excitement as families flocked to the park from over 40 states and territories. With activities like paddle boarding, kayaking, and various sandy beach experiences, guests found themselves lingering longer than expected. “What we created is a real family entertainment destination,” Sack stated. “We saw families spend entire days here, enjoying every bit of what we have to offer.”
As the summer activities began to wind down, the founders’ vision for SKYLAKE Adventures continued to flourish. Plans are already underway for the introduction of new attractions, including an exciting three-storey high ropes course set to launch in the autumn. To further optimise their natural resources, Howard and Sack will utilise the excavated land to offer winter tubing for thrill-seekers when the colder months arrive.
The future of SKYLAKE Adventures remains bright, with the addition of a 36-hole advanced miniature golf course anticipated for next year. Howard and Sack are dedicated to ensuring that every feature of the park enhances the visitor experience. “We want every adventure to be memorable, providing joy for families while extending our operational season to nearly 11 months each year,” Howard explained.
At the heart of their efforts lies a commitment to creating lasting memories for families across generations. Howard expressed his satisfaction with the community’s response, saying, “People often tell us we’ve transformed their children’s summers for the better. Witnessing families come together, sharing joy and laughter, is incredibly rewarding.” His sentiment was echoed by Sack, who noted the emotional impact their venture has had on families visiting SKYLAKE.
As Howard put it, the legacy of SKYLAKE Adventures will outlive both founders, fostering family joy long into the future. The adventure park represents a harmonious blend of innovation and nostalgia, inviting visitors to bask in the simplest pleasures of life while creating new, cherished memories together. With such a promising start, SKYLAKE is set to become an essential fixture in the heart of Indiana’s outdoor landscape.
