According to authorities, the shooting unfolded during a private party at the nightclub, which serves as a venue for various events including music performances and comedy open mics. The venue’s close proximity to the university has raised concerns among students and locals alike.

When police arrived at the scene, they discovered two victims, a man and a woman, both in the age range of 18 to 25. Sadly, both succumbed to their injuries soon after. LAPD Lieutenant Guy Golan confirmed this information to various news outlets, stating that there might be an additional victim who is still unaccounted for as investigations continue.

Witnesses recounted a chaotic scene, with one person describing the moment as “happening so fast.” They reported seeing a suspect draw a firearm from his waistband, aiming at an individual before firing. In a panic, partygoers rushed out of the club, creating a situation that further bewildered those on the scene.
In the aftermath of the event, many attendees were temporarily detained and searched by law enforcement as they exited the venue. Reports suggest that officers sought to ensure the safety of the area amid the panic, but ultimately released the individuals shortly afterward.
In response to the violence, the Artist Lounge issued a heartfelt statement on social media, pledging to hold a vigil on Sunday, October 4, in memory of the two deceased. The venue expressed its sorrow, noting that the tragic event tainted what was intended to be a celebration for emerging music artists. The statement emphasised the club’s commitment to fostering a safe space for creativity and expression, while also expressing condolences to the victims and their families.
Artist Lounge highlighted that while private security was present during the event, the actions of one individual led to devastating consequences. They urged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward, particularly calling upon the perpetrator to surrender to authorities.
At this time, investigators believe that the shooting may have been an isolated incident, although details about the suspect remain sparse. As of now, the LAPD has not released any descriptions or leads regarding the shooter.
Local authorities are calling on the community for support in this matter. The LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division is actively investigating and has appealed to the public for any information that could assist in identifying the suspect responsible for this tragic event.
The shooting in Northridge has sparked fear and outrage within the university community and surrounding neighbourhoods. Students at CSUN, along with their families and local residents, are grappling with the emotional toll of such violence so close to home. The loss of two young lives underscores a persistent issue concerning gun violence in urban areas and the urgent need for preventive measures.
As investigations proceed, the community is left mourning the loss of life and seeking answers to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future. Anyone wanting to report information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the LAPD’s Valley Bureau Section at 818-374-9550.
