In a significant recall impacting thousands of children’s toys, ABC Trading has announced the withdrawal of its Squishy Dumpling Toys and Crazy Squib Ball Toys due to safety violations. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) revealed that these products pose a potentially deadly ingestion risk because they can expand beyond acceptable limits.
Approximately 37,000 units of the affected toys, which are filled with glitter and contain water beads, have been recalled. The alert was issued on Thursday, 1st October, highlighting concerns that these toys have not met federal safety standards. Despite the serious nature of the hazard, no injuries or incidents have been reported related to these items thus far.

The recalled Squishy Dumpling Toys are identified by model number 3655, while the Crazy Squib Ball Toys carry model number 3984. The toys were available for purchase in retail outlets across the UK from April to June 2026. In light of the recall, parents and caregivers are urged to remove these toys from any child in their care immediately. ABC Trading has recommended that consumers contact them directly to arrange a full refund for the recalled products.
This recent recall comes just weeks after another notable recall by OKK Trading, which removed around 7,200 units of its Rainbow Mystery Squishy Bun Toys from the market. Similar to ABC Trading’s toys, the Rainbow Mystery toys did not comply with safety standards, alerting regulators to the choking risks associated with the water beads contained within.
The CPSC’s recent warnings have also emphasised the threat posed by counterfeit squishy toys. These fakes may lack the necessary safety features mandated for children’s toys, and if the outer layer of a counterfeit toy fails, children may be exposed to hazardous materials, including water beads and gels that could lead to choking or serious intestinal blockages.
Common concerns associated with such toys have intensified, particularly with the rise of social media trends that encourage children to microwave squishy toys for entertainment. Authorities are cautioning that such practices may create burn hazards, potentially leading to severe injuries.
In response to the warnings from the CPSC, e-commerce giant Amazon has acted to remove various counterfeit squishy toys from its marketplace. This decision aims to protect consumers and reduce the likelihood of children being exposed to unsafe products.
The growing trend of squishy toys, characterised by their tactile feel and colourful designs, has captured children’s hearts. However, the conversation surrounding their safety highlights the critical need for stringent compliance with safety standards in toy manufacturing and retailing.
Consumers are encouraged to stay vigilant and informed regarding toy recalls and safety notices, ensuring that the products they purchase are safe for their children. As the CPSC continues to monitor the situation, it remains imperative for parents to heed these warnings and take the necessary steps to ensure their children’s safety.
For those in possession of the recalled Squishy Dumpling Toys and Crazy Squib Ball Toys, contacting ABC Trading to arrange for a refund is essential. Parents should remain conscientious of the toys they allow their children to play with, especially in light of recent safety alerts that underscore the risks of counterfeit products in the market.
