Céline Dion made a triumphant return to the stage on 12 September 2026, marking the beginning of her long-anticipated residency at the Paris La Défense Arena in Nanterre. This performance was particularly significant for the singer, as it was her first full concert in over six years, following her diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological condition that had forced her to pause her live performances.

For this special occasion, Dion adorned herself with an impressive array of Boucheron jewellery, comprising over 500 carats of stunning diamonds. Among her exquisite pieces was a striking necklace dubbed ‘The Address,’ which features a remarkable 10.1-carat diamond. This unique piece is a tribute to the history of the jewel house, which was the first of its kind to establish a boutique at the iconic Place Vendôme, where Boucheron continues to thrive.

The creation of this extraordinary necklace took artisans more than 1,100 hours, a testament to the dedication and craftsmanship involved in producing such high-end jewellery. Dion expressed her emotional connection to the piece, revealing that her late husband, René Angélil, had a fondness for Boucheron perfume. “It’s something that makes me feel like René is still here,” she reflected, visibly moved as she spoke about her late partner, who passed away in 2016 after 21 years of marriage.

In addition to the exquisite necklace, Dion sported the diamond-encrusted gold ‘Fuzzy, the Leopard Cat’ ring, part of Boucheron’s esteemed 1866 Animaux de Collection, which accentuated an 18.17-carat cushion-cut green tourmaline. Her jewellery ensemble was elegantly complemented by a custom Dior gown, characterised by an all-black design and a pleated peplum skirt, accentuating her presence on stage.
Claire Choisne, Boucheron’s creative director, expressed her delight at seeing Dion don the jewellery, stating it was a “dream come true.” Cherishing the moment, Choisne remarked, “Her voice brings a new dimension to these creations and renders them with grace,” highlighting the synergy between Dion’s artistry and their luxury jewellery.
As the concert began, it was clear that the atmosphere was charged with emotion. The Grammy Award-winning artist addressed her audience, thanking them in both French and English. She conveyed her heartfelt appreciation for their support throughout her career, saying, “Thank you so very much for your support, your patience, and if I may say so: I am everything I am because you loved me,” before launching into her iconic hit, “Because You Loved Me.”
Dion’s return to performing was a culmination of diligent preparation and a challenging journey. Last year, she revealed her struggle with stiff-person syndrome, which can lead to debilitating muscle rigidity and mobility difficulties. Despite these challenges, Dion has remained steadfast in her pursuit of recovery, undergoing physical therapy, vocal training, and immunotherapy, as well as incorporating exercise into her daily routine.
The significant hiatus from live performances that Dion experienced was not only due to her medical condition but also the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her emotional reunion with fans was underscored by a shared sense of joy and nostalgia, as she expressed her love for Paris and the support she has received over the years.
As the residency continues, Dion looks forward to not only reconnecting with her audience but also celebrating her resilience and passion for music. Through her powerful performances and heartfelt connections, Celine Dion remains a quintessential figure in the world of music, inspiring many with her journey and artistry.
