A 36-year-old woman from Florida has been charged with multiple serious offences, including attempted murder, following a shocking incident in March at the Beverly Hills residence of pop star Rihanna. The charges against Ivanna Lisette Ortiz were unsealed on 30 September by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, highlighting the gravity of her alleged actions which included firing upon a property occupied by the artist, her partner, and their children.

According to the indictment, Ortiz is accused of systematically firing an AR-style rifle towards Rihanna’s estate on 8 March. The attack occurred around 1 p.m. while the home was filled with occupants, including Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky, their three children, along with Rihanna’s mother and two staff members. Remarkably, no one was injured during the incident; however, the District Attorney, Nathan J. Hochman, emphasised that this was a stroke of luck rather than a sign of restraint. “Shooting at an occupied home is a serious, violent crime that is both reckless and dangerous,” Hochman stated, underscoring the need for safety in one’s home.
In addition to the attempted murder charge, Ortiz faces ten felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon and three felony counts for shooting at an inhabited dwelling. In a separate act of recklessness, it is alleged that Ortiz also discharged her weapon at a nearby residence where two individuals were present. Following the shooting, Ortiz fled the scene but was apprehended later in Sherman Oaks.
