Authorities in Massachusetts have arrested a 29-year-old man, Jordende Pierre, on serious charges, including human trafficking and kidnapping, after a landlord made a shocking discovery of a woman allegedly being held captive in an attic. The situation unfolded in Malden, where an arrest warrant was issued for Pierre on 23rd September. The U.S. Marshals confirmed that they received a tip from a landlord, identified as Qing Sun, who went to the property on Summer Street to investigate a reported water leak. Jordende Pierre was arrested the following day, on 24th September, and was subsequently arraigned on 25th September, where he pleaded not guilty to multiple charges. Amongst these are the trafficking of persons for sexual servitude, kidnapping, and indecent assault and battery on a person aged 14 or over.
Prosecutors have laid out their narrative, asserting that Pierre met the victim through the dating app Tinder. Following their meeting, he allegedly picked her up from a rehabilitation centre and brought her back to his residence. During her time there, Pierre is accused of supplying her with drugs, purportedly to facilitate his control over her.
To exploit her further, prosecutors claim that Pierre trafficked the woman to other men for sexual purposes, keeping the money he received from these transactions. The woman, who has not been publicly named, was said to be confined within the attic – a situation exacerbated by Pierre’s removal of the door handle, which prevented her from escaping.
The landlord, Qing Sun, expressed her shock at the revelations, stating, “I’m not aware this guy is living there. And I’m not aware anybody living in the attic. Nobody’s supposed to live there.” Other tenants reportedly attempted to obstruct Sun’s access to various rooms in the property, adding confusion to the situation.
