Will Reeve, an ABC News correspondent, has recently recounted his journey through cancer diagnosis and treatment, crediting his wife Amanda for encouraging him to seek medical attention that ultimately saved his life. The 34-year-old journalist, known for his appearances on “Good Morning America,” faced a daunting health scare that led him to realise the importance of awareness and support.

Reeve first noticed an unusual tenderness in his testicle while showering in April 2026. Initially dismissive, he thought the issue might resolve itself. “At some point in April, I noticed something was off in the shower,” he shared. “It was a tender lump on my testicle, and I was concerned, but figured that it would pass.” This underestimation of symptoms is a common mistake among young men, leading many to ignore potentially serious health warnings.

So I was more nervous about the unknown of the surgery rather than the overwhelming realisation that I would be losing an essential part of my body forever.” Just ten days after his first test, he underwent the outpatient procedure, keen to return to his life and work, which had just seen the couple celebrating their marriage.

However, the results turned out to be more alarming than he anticipated, as he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of testicular cancer—embryonal carcinoma—accounting for 95 percent of his condition. Following a six-hour surgery on June 10 to remove numerous lymph nodes, it was confirmed that three of these nodes were cancerous. The gravity of his health situation became clear, leading him into further treatment.

Reeve’s journey included two rounds of chemotherapy, which he faced with a resilient spirit. He was declared cancer-free on September 8, a turning point for both him and Amanda, who stood by him throughout the ordeal. “Every doctor I saw along the way was using what I call the good C-word — ‘cure’,” he noted, expressing profound gratitude for his wife’s unwavering support during such a challenging period.

In an emotional tribute to Amanda, Reeve stated, “I have to give all the credit in the world to my wife for urging me to go get the ultrasound… saying, ‘It’s probably nothing, but what if it’s something?’ I knew that I married the perfect person for me before any of this happened… now I know we can handle anything that comes our way.” Amanda, 30, was equally vocal about her husband’s story and its potential impact on others.
