In a remarkable journey towards self-acceptance, sisters Nikka, Neda, and Nina Kanani opted for rhinoplasty, undergoing their transformations under the expert hands of Dr. Deepak Dugar, a renowned plastic surgeon based in Beverly Hills, California. The Kanani sisters, of Persian descent, have openly shared their challenges with their appearances, particularly focusing on their prominent noses, which did not align with their personal aesthetics.

Initially, it was Neda, 32, who took the first step in this journey. After years of dissatisfaction with her nose, she diligently researched surgeons and was referred to Dr. Dugar by a friend. Neda recalls her hesitance, stating, “I was never happy with my nose, but I don’t know if it was really to the point where I thought I’d actually get a rhinoplasty. I was too afraid of looking fake and looking different.” However, a consultation with Dr. Dugar reassured her with his philosophy of enhancing rather than overhauling a patient’s natural features.

Following Neda’s transformative surgery in December 2024, her sisters gained the confidence to pursue their own procedures. Nina, 26, had always considered a nose job but was particularly influenced by Neda’s subtle, refined results. She mentioned, “I always knew a rhinoplasty was in my future after years of not liking what I saw in the mirror.” The natural appearance of Neda’s post-surgery nose convinced Nina that Dr. Dugar could achieve the results she desired. In May 2025, she underwent her own surgery, aiming for a result that felt authentic to her.

Nikka, the eldest at 35, was initially resistant to the idea of surgery, believing she had the “worst nose” among the three. Despite her earlier reservations and judgment regarding Neda’s decision to have a rhinoplasty, she later recognized her desire for change. “When Neda first told me she was [getting a rhinoplasty], I was actually pretty judgmental,” Nikka admitted. “If I’m being very honest with myself, a lot of it was because I really wanted to do it and it brought that out of me.”
A year after Neda’s surgery, Nikka made her own appointment with Dr. Dugar. Citing her sister’s successful transformation as the catalyst for her decision, she stated, “Seeing [Neda’s] results was the push I needed.” Unlike many plastic surgeries that have become notorious for leaving visible scars, Dr. Dugar utilises a technique called closed rhinoplasty, which ensures minimal scarring by making incisions inside the nostrils. He explained his meticulous approach, which involves creating “tunnels around the cartilages” to reshape the nose without extensive external alteration.
Despite the sisters’ initial concerns about how their father would react to their decision, they found his support grew after he saw the positive results of Neda’s surgery. While he had expressed reservations based on the prevalence of unsatisfactory rhinoplasties within their culture, he became increasingly accepting of the procedures as he observed his daughters’ newfound confidence. Neda recounted her anxiety before revealing her plans to their father, recalling, “I was literally shaking before [telling him], and he took it really well.”
In the aftermath of their surgeries, the Kanani sisters expressed immense gratitude for one another’s support throughout the process. Neda reflected on her experience, calling it “the best decision I ever made,” while Nina described her rhinoplasty as “life-changing.” Nikka echoed these sentiments, expressing her appreciation for Neda’s pioneering spirit that made her feel safe to pursue her own surgery. “I’m so thankful, especially to Neda, for doing it first,” she said. “It turned from the biggest regret in my life to one of the things I’m the most happy about.”
As they look back on their decisions, the Kanani sisters emphasise the importance of finding the right surgeon who understands their desires, offering a blend of guidance and aesthetic appreciation. Their journey reflects a growing acceptance and consideration among both individuals and families regarding cosmetic procedures, paving the way for a more nuanced conversation about beauty standards and personal satisfaction.
