The announcement, made on Thursday, 24 September, has raised concerns over safety among users as the glasses have the potential to cause burns during prolonged use.

The recall follows ten reports submitted to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) detailing instances where users experienced a burning sensation on their face and the left ear after wearing the device for an extended duration. This alarming trend highlights the risk of the left side of the frame becoming dangerously hot, which poses a significant safety hazard.
The INMO Air3 Smart Glasses, which contain features like AI translation, assisted navigation, hearing assistance, and media streaming capabilities, have sold more than 1,600 pairs in the United States alone. Approximately 120 pairs in Canada have also been affected by the recall, although Canadian authorities have stated they have yet to receive reports of overheating incidents. The glasses are identifiable by “AIR3” and “INMO” labels situated on the right side of the device.

Available for purchase from a variety of online platforms—including Amazon, Inmoxr, and Kickstarter—the smart glasses were sold from December 2025 until August 2026, with prices ranging from £900 to £1,300. Despite their innovative features, the safety concerns have prompted the company to respond quickly to mitigate risks to consumers.
Given the potential for severe injury, customers who own the Air3 Smart Glasses are advised to stop using the product immediately. INMO International Technology is facilitating free repairs for the recalled units and providing support to ensure that users have the latest software updates installed, specifically version 3.16, before they attempt to use the glasses again.

The CPSC emphasised the importance of returning the product in light of the identified hazards. Firms like INMO are expected to take extensive measures to safeguard consumer wellbeing, especially when a product presents inherent risks.
Users are encouraged to reach out directly to INMO International for more information on the recall process and to report any unusual incidents that might not yet be documented. Responsiveness to customer queries and safety reporting is critical in addressing this situation.
As the market for smart glasses continues to expand, it serves as a reminder for manufacturers to remain vigilant in their quality control processes. The swift action taken by INMO International Technology underscores the necessity of consumer safety over product innovation.
In the meantime, affected users can expect updates from INMO International as they work to rectify the overheating issue and restore confidence in their product. The standout features of the Air3 Smart Glasses remain appealing to consumers, but safety must take precedence as the company implements necessary changes.
