Country singer-songwriter Corey Kent has launched his latest album, ‘Heartland Rock and Roll’, which became available to fans on September 25. Echoing the simplicity and charm of his origins, Kent recorded the album at his ranch in Texas, drawing deeply from his personal experiences and family life.
Kent, originally from Oklahoma, found motivation in the sounds of legendary artists like Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bruce Springsteen, Garth Brooks, and Kacey Musgraves while creating his album. The opening track, “Motorbike,” encapsulates the theme of self-discovery, serving as a coming-of-age narrative that encourages listeners to venture out and explore the world.
“The idea is to inspire one to find their identity and embrace the journey of life,” he explained, noting that this uplifting sentiment stands in contrast to the album’s closing song, “Brixby,” named after his hometown. “It’s this realisation of missing the uncomplicated nature of life back home—the pace, the people, and the familiarity,” the 32-year-old artist elaborated. Kent reflects on his own narrative, embracing both his journey and the inherent complexities of his character.
In a significant moment within the album, Kent candidly shares insights into domestic life with his wife, Dayna, and their four children through the track “Everyday Life.” This personal touch underscores his commitment to authenticity over commercial success. “Including these personal moments in my music is like planting a flag to signify that authenticity matters more than popularity,” he stated.

Reflecting on his journey in the music industry, Kent acknowledged that he has encountered numerous challenges that at times made him question his path. “I had every reason to give up, but I never lost faith in myself, largely thanks to the support of those around me,” he recounted. Kent’s story traces back to when he moved to Nashville at the age of 17, with little more than ambition and determination.
After a decade of hard work—including securing a songwriting deal and achieving notable success in Texas—Kent faced setbacks when his job in Nashville came to an abrupt end amid economic challenges. Finding himself unable to pursue music temporarily, he took on various jobs to support his family, including working at a motorcycle shop and a pavement company.
Through these tumultuous times, Kent was surrounded by a supportive community that never lost faith in his talent. “There were countless ups and downs, but we persevered,” he reflected. “I’m grateful we continued to push through, and with the release of this album, we’re celebrating that journey.”
