The fifth season of “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test,” which sees celebrities pushed to their limits in extreme conditions, premiered on 24 September. Filmed in the jungles of Malaysia, the show aims to challenge participants both physically and mentally, introducing them to an array of demanding tasks. Glanville’s journey on the show began dramatically, as she sought to overcome personal adversity.
In her candid first confessional, Glanville shared her struggles with health issues over the past three years. After suffering from what she described as silicone poisoning linked to aging breast implants, she expressed her desire to reclaim some of the vitality lost during her illness. “I’m lucky to be here, and if I can get through those three years, I can get through anything,” she said, illustrating her determination to confront her fears.

The competition kicked off with a daunting challenge requiring contestants to jump off a helicopter into a river below. As Glanville positioned herself on the helicopter’s platform, her anxiety was palpable. She reflected on her recent battles with fear and how challenging it had become for her to simply leave the house due to her health.
Despite making the jump, Glanville unfortunately landed awkwardly, hitting the water face-first. The impact took its toll, leaving her in evident distress as she swam towards the dock. “It’s my sternum — I can’t. My sternum is, like, f—ing cracked,” she could be heard saying amid the pain. Following her arrival on the platform, a member of the show’s directing team informed her that her jump had not gone as planned, stating she had “over-rotated and then smashed” herself.

In tears, Glanville sought medical assistance, indicating that breathing was quite painful. After an examination, medical personnel delivered the disappointing news that she would be unable to continue in the competition, confirming her medical withdrawal.
Glanville expressed her frustration about her ongoing struggles: “It’s exhausting to always be bouncing back from something. You keep getting tested and sometimes you can’t get back up.” Such sentiments highlight the mental as well as the physical challenges faced by contestants in this rigorous environment.
In her final moments on the show, Glanville appeared visibly upset as she expressed her dismay at being the first to leave, saying, “I told my kids I wouldn’t be the first one to leave.” This display of vulnerability resonated with viewers, showcasing the emotional weight of competing in such a high-stakes competition.
The remaining cast members for this season include notable figures such as Candace Cameron Bure, David Charvet, and Ruby Rose, among others. As the series progresses, they will face increasingly challenging tasks, including navigating high-altitude supply retrieval, enduring chemical gassing, and undertaking claustrophobic searches in underground bunkers.
“Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” is designed to push contestants to their limits, testing their ability to adapt to harsh conditions and unpredictable terrains. With new episodes airing every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FOX, viewers can expect to see how the remaining participants handle the unique challenges ahead.
