A couple from Arkansas, Brandon Lee Britten, 31, and Sierra Dawn Britten, 28, are currently facing serious felony charges relating to the abduction and sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl from South Carolina. The pair were arrested by authorities on September 9, after it was confirmed that the child had been located at their home in Independence County.

The case began when the Independence County Sheriff’s Department received a communication from law enforcement in South Carolina. They informed local officers about the potential presence of an abducted child in the northern area of Independence County. Following this tip-off, Arkansas authorities were able to trace a black Chevrolet Malibu, reportedly linked to the abduction, to the Brittens’ residence.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found the vehicle parked outside the home. After several attempts to gain entry and locate the child, Brandon and Sierra Britten eventually emerged. According to a probable cause affidavit, Brandon admitted that the abducted girl was indeed inside the house. Meanwhile, Sierra allegedly obstructed officers’ access, requiring physical removal to ensure the child’s safety.
The young girl was discovered in a back bathroom, positioned with her face and hands against the wall and visibly shaking. According to Lt. Zach Rawlins, who was involved in the rescue, when he identified himself, the child expressed relief and repeatedly stated she “wanted her momma.” Following her rescue, she was taken to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Independence County for necessary medical examinations and forensic interviews.
Reports reveal that the child had met the Brittens online, under the impression that she was entering into a relationship with a 15-year-old boy, with Sierra identified as his roommate. Once in their home, the minor indicated that she was sexually assaulted by Brandon in a private bedroom.
Sierra, in subsequent police interviews, initially claimed to be unaware of the girl’s age, suggesting that she thought the child was 18 years old, before later stating she believed the girl to be 14. The affidavit states that Sierra had orchestrated Brandon’s trip to South Carolina around her work commitments to facilitate the pick-up of the child.
Both Brandon and Sierra Britten face multiple charges, including rape, internet stalking of a child, and travelling for the purpose of an unlawful act with a minor. Sierra is charged as an accomplice in relation to these crimes. Each is currently held on a substantial bond of $1,000,000.
Following their arrest, the 12-year-old girl has been reunited with her family. The situation has raised serious questions about online safety and the vulnerability of children in digital spaces.
