As reported, the couple was approximately 7,000 feet above sea level and 8 to 10 miles from the nearest trailhead when the storm struck. As the investigation continues, the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office has yet to provide further information about the cause of Claborn’s death. Two deputies were dispatched via helicopter to recover her body for transport to the coroner’s office.
