Cardoso’s arrest follows a disturbing investigation by the Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) and local law enforcement. On Friday, September 11th, he was apprehended after allegations of his misconduct surfaced. According to an arrest affidavit, Cardoso used his position of authority within the educational setting to exploit young girls, specifically targeting students in third and fourth grades.
Reports indicate that Cardoso lured several girls to his classroom under the pretext of helping them catch up on schoolwork. According to witness accounts, he displayed sexually explicit photos and videos to the students and made inappropriate physical contact. One victim recounted being shown a naked photograph of Cardoso himself, while another described being shown explicit videos involving minors.

The troubling behaviour reportedly began during the 2024-2025 school year. On one occasion, as the students played in class, Cardoso allegedly slapped them on the buttocks and remarked in a “playful” tone that they would face harsher punishment for misbehaving. The alleged misconduct continued well into the following school year, wherein the former teacher would excuse selected girls from physical education classes to make inappropriate comments and gestures.
In further allegations detailed in the reports, one student recounted an incident whereby Cardoso complimented her beauty, attempting to grab her arm while standing at his desk. She told investigators that he would stroke her hair despite her pleas for him to stop, indicating a pattern of grooming behaviour.

The Miami-Dade County Public Schools released a statement expressing their concern over the allegations. School officials stated that they acted immediately upon becoming aware of the allegations in April 2026, removing Cardoso from the classroom the following business day. The district confirmed that a formal investigation was initiated by Miami-Dade Schools Police and Cardoso separated from the school district in May 2026.
M-DCPS affirmed their zero-tolerance stance on inappropriate behaviour by faculty, stating that Cardoso is permanently banned from any future employment within the district. “Behavior of this nature will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” the statement read.
As of now, it remains unclear if Cardoso has acquired legal representation to address the charges brought against him. The investigation continues, with police encouraging any additional victims or witnesses to come forward as they seek to establish a comprehensive view of the alleged misconduct.
The case has raised significant alarm within the community and among parents, who express a deep concern for the safety of children in educational settings. Ongoing coverage will track the developments of this troubling situation as authorities work to ensure justice for the victims involved.
