Blaze Tears Through 2 Schools, Leaving at Least 24 Students Dead, Some of Whom Were Trampled During the Chaos

A tragic fire has claimed the lives of at least 24 children and left many others injured in Bukavu, a city located in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Tragically, this chaotic scene resulted in students being trampled. “As everyone tried to force their way out, students were pushed over and trampled on,” Lubala recounted.

In addition to the schools, approximately 300 wooden homes were also destroyed during the fire, leading to severe destruction within the community.
