Worby’s affection for My Little Pony traces back to when she was just three years old. Frustrated by her parents’ refusal to allow her to own a real horse, she stumbled upon a My Little Pony toy in a local shop, which ignited a fascination that would endure for decades. “I don’t know if I saw one in a field or whatever, but I wanted a real horse and my parents said no. Then I was in the toy shop in town and I saw a My Little Pony on the shelf and that was it; I was addicted,” she reminisced about her early days of collecting.
Initially, her collection started to take shape during her teenage years. Over the course of 30 years, it expanded to fill an entire room in her home and a storage unit, demonstrating both her commitment and the sheer volume of her acquisitions. Since the official count, Worby has continued to grow her collection, now totalling around 7,750 items, and she attributes this growth to her eagerness to explore auction sites and other sources for rare finds. “I always had My Little Pony in my life from the age of three, but I started seriously collecting in 1997, when I found ponies on auction sites and could find the ones I was missing,” she explained.

Worby revealed that her path to the Guinness recognition began over a year ago when she received a message via social media from the organisation. “I found a message in my Facebook inbox that I hadn’t seen for about three or four months. When I opened it, I realised they wanted to see if I had the biggest collection in the world,” she recounted. Initially sceptical, she later discovered that the message was genuine, marking the beginning of her record-holding journey.
As she reflected on the enormity of her achievement, Worby acknowledged the reality of needing to consider more space for her ever-growing collection. “I may have to give up another room in my house eventually,” she remarked, indicating the extent to which her passion has transformed her living environment.
