Former NFL player Miles Sanders has found himself in legal trouble following an alleged incident of driving under the influence. The 29-year-old, who was most recently associated with the Dallas Cowboys, was arrested on June 8 after police discovered him slumped over in his vehicle on a highway in Pennsylvania.

Reports indicate that Sanders was found in his Lexus stopped in the middle of a road in Churchill Borough, near Pittsburgh. Officers reportedly described his condition as “extremely lethargic,” with his eyes appearing glossy. Officials were concerned for his safety and the safety of others when they approached the vehicle.
According to a police report, upon contacting Sanders, officers suspected he was under the influence of either alcohol or a controlled substance. The athlete allegedly admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day, and officers noted the strong smell of alcohol on his breath. Field sobriety tests were administered, during which Sanders reportedly did not perform well.
In addition to the alcohol allegations, police claimed that marijuana was found in Sanders’ car during the arrest. Following the field sobriety tests, officers proceeded to administer a portable breath test, which ultimately led to his arrest. Sanders is now facing charges of driving under the influence and careless driving. He is set to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on September 23.
Sanders, who made his name with the Philadelphia Eagles after being selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, enjoyed a four-season stint with the team. His career subsequently took him to the Carolina Panthers, where he played for two years, before signing a one-year contract with the Cowboys in March 2025. Currently, he finds himself as a free agent after his time with Dallas.
Following the arrest, Sanders’ attorney issued a statement to KDKA-TV, emphasising that the matter is a private issue that has yet to even reach the preliminary hearing stage, and refrained from providing further detail.
