Morgan Geyser, the woman whose violent actions in 2014 shocked the nation, is once again seeking a way out of her confinement. Geyser, who was convicted of stabbing her friend Payton Leutner in a bid to gain the approval of the fictional character Slender Man, has submitted a petition for conditional release just a few months after a prior attempt was thwarted by her escape from a group home.

The petition was filed on 25 August 2025, and Geyser’s case is set to follow a specific judicial process. The attack occurred following a sleepover, during which Geyser and Weier lured Leutner into the woods and stabbed her 19 times as a misguided act of loyalty to the Slender Man mythos, popularised through online horror memes.

The court ordered her to spend 40 years in a psychiatric facility, recognising the psychological complexities surrounding her case.
