Mitchell recounted how she was suffering from an illness during the iconic wedding episode, a significant milestone for the series, marking its 150th episode. “It was one of those days I had to smile while feeling like I was going to die,” she remarked, illustrating the difficult balance she had to maintain while being the focal point of the episode.
The episode in question, titled “We Do”, originally aired on April 21, 2003. In it, viewers witnessed Lucy’s plans for her wedding to Kevin Kinkirk, portrayed by George Stults, thrown into chaos by an unexpected storm. As the scenes unfolded, Mitchell found herself enduring the discomfort of being ill while needing to present a joyful front as the bride. “I just wanted to go to bed,” she recalled, noting that despite her struggles, she managed to complete the shoot, remarking, “There’s lots of pictures to show that I was there, but mentally I was not.”
