A 60-year-old convicted sex offender, Mark Sullivan, has been arrested in connection with allegations of filming children at Boston Common’s Frog Pond. The incident reportedly took place on 14 August 2023, prompting a swift police response after witnesses raised the alarm.

According to Boston Police, officers were alerted to the situation around 1 p.m. when a witness observed Sullivan engaged in a dispute with another individual. As officers began their investigation, additional witnesses reported seeing Sullivan using camera-equipped sunglasses to record children in the area. These accounts suggested that he was specifically targeting a family who were attempting to change their children’s clothing, despite the children being covered with towels for privacy.
Witness accounts indicated that the family attempted to relocate to avoid Sullivan’s behaviour but were reportedly followed by him, who continued to document their activities. Sullivan’s arrest took place on 18 August 2023 at his residence in Brockton, Massachusetts, with involvement from both Boston police officers and the U.S. Marshals. Following his arrest, Sullivan was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court, where he pleaded not guilty to charges of photographing the sexual or intimate parts of a child. His attorney, Denise Moore, indicated during the hearing that Sullivan has not been employed since 2007 and requested that bail be set at $1,000. The prosecution argued for a bail amount of $100,000, but the judge ultimately set bail at a higher £250,000, outlining specific conditions if Sullivan were to post bail.
