What began as a casual hobby during the height of his television career has blossomed into an impressive collection that now boasts more than 10,000 unique pieces.

Bernsen’s initial foray into the world of snow globes can be traced back to the promotional events he attended while working on *L.A. Law*. He recalls receiving small gifts, including hats and T-shirts, from television affiliates, but it was the snow globes that captivated him. “By the end of *L.A. Law*, I had accumulated around 25 globes,” he reminisces. “That’s when I realised it had turned into a collection.”

Motivated by the beauty and stories behind the globes, Bernsen began purchasing them from various places he visited. The inception of eBay, however, shifted the landscape of collecting for him. “eBay made it too easy. It felt like shooting fish in a barrel,” he comments, while still valuing the thrill of treasure hunting at antique shops and flea markets, like those at the Rose Bowl.

Bernsen suggests that serious collectors of snow globes are relatively few in number, estimating that there are only about ten dedicated enthusiasts worldwide. Known among this circle, collectors often trade and share their unique finds. Yet there remains one prized globe that Bernsen covets: a historical piece from the 1896 Paris Expo featuring the Eiffel Tower, which, he admits, belongs to a friend with a more expansive collection.

Despite his familiarity with high-value collectibles, Bernsen is taking his time before making any offers on this crown jewel of snow globes. “I could afford it,” he explains, “but I’m also wary about how it might change my view of collecting. It’s more than just acquiring items; it’s about having something to strive for.” For Bernsen, the allure of the hunt remains a compelling motivation in his collecting journey.

In addition to his impressive collection, Bernsen is currently engaged in writing a coffee table book that intertwines his life story with the narratives embodied by his snow globes. He is also contemplating the future of his vast collection. “I’m considering selling it to someone who will ensure it remains on display for others to enjoy,” he reveals. In an even more ambitious move, he expresses interest in opening a snow globe museum in the picturesque Hudson Valley, New York, where he currently resides. His vision is to create a space that engages visitors while sustainably showcasing his collection.

Alongside his passion for collecting, Bernsen is experiencing a remarkable resurgence in his acting career. He currently holds roles in Apple TV’s *Your Friends and Neighbours* as the hedge fund manager Jack Bailey and in NBC’s *The Rise and Fall of Reggie Dinkins*, where he portrays a former football coach played by Tracy Morgan. His renewed visibility on these shows has delighted him, especially as he navigates fame at the age of 71.

“It’s been quite charming to receive this new wave of affection from the public,” Bernsen shared, recalling a recent outing with his *L.A. Law* co-star Harry Hamlin, where fans eagerly approached them to express their love for his recent work. “When you’re part of a popular show, that energy is palpable,” he noted with a laugh.
