Reba McEntire and Rex Linn, the stars of the recent series ‘Happy’s Place’, engaged on Christmas Eve 2024 at their Tennessee ranch, have recently provided an update regarding their wedding plans. While the couple affirmed their engagement in September 2025, they have yet to set a date for the ceremony, as McEntire revealed in a recent interview that work commitments have been the reason for the delay.

In a conversation with E! News during the NBCUniversal’s Backlot Pass event on August 10, 2026, the 71-year-old country music legend explained, “We’re just waiting until we have an open spot to have the wedding. After that, we can get it planned and print those invitations.”

Despite their busy schedules, which fellow ‘Happy’s Place’ star Belissa Escobedo noted during the same event, McEntire and Linn, 69, have continually prioritised their work over wedding arrangements. Escobedo remarked on the couple’s packed agenda, saying, “They are always on a new job, something.”

Talking with PEOPLE in November 2025, McEntire candidly stated, “I have no idea when we’re going to set a date. Work comes first, so we’ll see.” However, when the time comes for them to celebrate, the couple envisions their wedding taking place on their Tennessee ranch, as they feel it would be incomplete without their beloved animals.

McEntire expressed her desire to include their dogs in the ceremony, saying, “We’re going to have to have dogs there. I have two granddogs, Watson and Belle, so they may be the ring bearers or something like that.” She added, “We have longhorns, donkeys, horses, cats – we have a lot of fun with them.”

The singer has described their vision for the occasion as “low-key,” emphasising that it will be a gathering of friends and family, rather than an extravagant affair. McEntire stated, “A Reba/Rex wedding is going to be very different. It’s going to be low-key, lots of fun, lots of people, lots of food. Our big motto is just to have fun.”

This will not be McEntire’s first wedding; she was previously married to Charlie Battles from 1976 to 1987 and subsequently to Narvel Blackstock from 1989 until their divorce in 2015. Her life experience has certainly influenced her current approach to marriage, as it appears that she is looking forward to a more relaxed celebration.

In a light-hearted show of support for the couple, McEntire’s former co-star, Melissa Peterman, has stepped forward to volunteer her baking skills for the wedding cake. Peterman, 55, jokingly announced in March, “I will bake her wedding cake. I got to start because that’s going to be a lot. I would make her wedding cake. Yes, I will make your wedding cake, Reba McEntire,” and added her creative twist of making a banana pudding with Nilla Wafers topped with a bride and groom figurine made from the same cookies.
