Becca Luna and her husband, Willow Kai, stumbled upon a property that captivated their hearts while they were on holiday in Paris. The couple, both creators in the digital space, were casually browsing home listings on Zillow when they discovered a house that exuded European charm and intricate detail.

“We were drawn to the property instantly,” recalls Luna, who runs a business selling digital courses. “At that moment, we were looking for a creative project outside our usual online work. This house felt like the perfect opportunity.” Following a successful business sale that netted them over £500,000 in just a few days, they decided to make an offer on the home.

Since their acquisition, Luna describes the renovation journey as transformative. With a vision to maintain the home’s historic essence while infusing it with modern elements, they have engaged in extensive work. “We’ve renovated nearly every room, stripping them down to the studs, but have made a conscious effort to preserve the beautiful original materials, like the stone and cedar,” she shares. Luna has made it a point to keep the exterior intact, enhancing it with whimsical touches.
Among the large-scale modifications was a complete kitchen remodel. “We aimed to have our kitchen as the heart of the home,” she explains. The space, now referred to by the couple as their “Cathedral,” boasts impressive 24-foot vaulted ceilings supported by solid cedar beams sourced from their property. The vast design has created a sense of openness and light throughout the home.
However, the renovation process has not come without its challenges, particularly in coordinating with contractors. Luna candidly admits that managing a large online team is a different experience compared to overseeing a construction project. “The timeline with contractors can be ambiguous. It has been a real exercise in patience for both my husband and me,” she remarks.
After 17 months of painstaking work, the estimated cost of their renovations totals around £500,000, which includes extensive upgrades to the bathrooms and plans for future projects across their expansive wooded property. “We have numerous ideas for further enhancements,” Luna expresses with enthusiasm. “It’s a continual journey of reimagining the space.”
Luna has been sharing her home renovation adventure on TikTok, where her updates have garnered significant attention, turning into a viral sensation. Despite some less-than-positive feedback, she finds the experience rewarding and often amusing. “I enjoy using satire to address some of the renovations that might not sit well with everyone, which sparks a lot of opinions,” she says.
Originally, documenting the renovation process was not part of their plan, but after publishing their first video, it quickly gained traction. This unexpected popularity led Luna to see their home as both a creative outlet and a means to grow their business. “The community we’ve built around the home renovation aligns closely with our work. We resonate with middle-aged women seeking to harness their creativity and build their ‘dream lives,'” she says.
Having owned the house for three years now, every new post tends to create a buzz online. Even amidst some criticism, Luna cherishes the interaction she has with her followers. “Connecting with people who feel inspired by our journey motivates me to share even more. I want to show them that it’s possible to create something unique, even when others might not see the vision,” she adds.
As Becca and Willow continue to put their stamp on their dream home, they also embrace the joys and frustrations of home renovation. Whether it’s navigating the complexities of construction or delighting in the heartfelt feedback of their social media followers, the journey remains an exciting chapter in their lives.
