Sudiksha Konanki’s Parents Believe Their Daughter Drowned in the Dominican Republic

The parents, Subbarayudu and Sreedevi Konanki, have now shared their belief that Sudiksha drowned in the Dominican waters and are seeking a death declaration.

Sudiksha Konanki, a student at the University of Pittsburgh, went missing early on the morning of March 6, and the last place she was seen was at a beach in Punta Cana known for its rough waters. Dominican authorities have indicated that they suspect she drowned. In a heartfelt letter to the authorities, Sudiksha’s parents expressed their desire to start the grieving process and handle matters related to their daughter’s absence.

Subbarayudu Konanki disclosed to the New York Post that both sides of the authorities have confirmed the high waves at the time of Sudiksha’s disappearance. He also clarified that the person initially considered a suspect was not deemed one from the start. With heavy hearts, the Konanki family is acknowledging the heartbreaking reality of Sudiksha’s death.

The parents have requested that Joshua Riibe, believed to be the last person to have seen Sudiksha alive, be allowed to return to the United States. They highlighted in their letter that Riibe is cooperating with the investigation, and there is no evidence of foul play in Sudiksha’s disappearance.

Initially named a person of interest by the sheriff’s office in Loudoun County, Va., where the Konanki family resides, Riibe is no longer under suspicion. Chad Quinn, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, clarified that while the investigation is ongoing, Riibe is not considered a suspect or person of interest in their eyes.

The Konanki family is hopeful that by initiating the death declaration process, they can find some closure and pay tribute to Sudiksha’s memory. At this challenging time, they are leaning on each other for support and trying to cope with the devastating loss of their beloved daughter.
