In a video posted on 29 July, Gosselin, who is 51, revealed that Meika had succumbed to respiratory failure, which veterinarians could not reverse. “Thank you for every single comment. I screenshot some; they meant so much. I’ve read every one, many of them to Steve [Neild],” she shared, referring to her partner, with whom she went public last year.

The emotional weight of the loss was palpable, as Gosselin noted, “We’ve cried so much together, and I want you to know that your words and prayers are helping us process the loss of our baby Meika.” She has consistently referred to Meika as her child, stating that this tragedy is exceptionally hard to bear: “Our baby, the closest thing to a child Steve and I will ever have, was only 15 months and 10 days old. Life is so cruel and unfair. This one I’ll never heal from.”
