Man Took Fatal ‘Baseball-Style Swing’ with Wrench at Motorist Amid Heated Road Rage, with Help From Dad

Blake Rakela, a 21-year-old from California, was convicted of voluntary manslaughter this week following a tragic road rage incident that resulted in the death of 55-year-old Jeremy Styles. This conviction is part of a plea deal between Rakela’s legal team and state prosecutors, reducing the charges he faced in relation to the violent altercation that occurred in March 2025.

The case has drawn significant attention due to the dramatic circumstances surrounding the incident. It began with an apparent close merge between Rakela’s vehicle and Styles’s car, which escalated into a hazardous pursuit. The defence attorney for Blake Rakela maintained that Styles was the aggressor, asserting that he exited his vehicle first while brandishing a tire iron. The widow of Jeremy Styles was reportedly involved in discussions prior to finalising the plea agreements.

Blake Rakela is facing a four-year prison sentence, which has been determined in connection with his manslaughter conviction. The sentencing for both Rakela and his father is scheduled for 4 August, as confirmed by multiple local news outlets.
