Bret Michaels, the iconic frontman of rock band Poison, has announced that he will be postponing his upcoming Live & Amplified World Tour dates due to health concerns stemming from a recent medical procedure. The 63-year-old musician underwent surgery for a complicated kidney stone condition, which has necessitated a period of recovery.

In a statement released on his official website, Michaels indicated that he has been advised by medical professionals to take three to four weeks off to recuperate fully. This decision follows surgery to remove an obstructing kidney stone, which he was diagnosed with after experiencing severe pain while performing in Spokane, Washington, on July 18.

Michaels shared his gratitude for the medical care he has received, acknowledging the team that has supported him throughout his career. He expressed appreciation for his family, friends, fans, and crew for their understanding during this challenging time. “If all goes well, I will hit the road late August back, delivering 1000% energy, intensity, and truly nothing but a good time,” he assured his supporters.

Following the performance in Spokane, Michaels was admitted to hospital, where he underwent the necessary surgery. According to his physician, Dr Abby Borhan, a ureteral stent was successfully placed during the operation to aid in his recovery. However, she explained that the stent may cause significant discomfort and requires a strict regimen of light physical activity to avoid further complications.

Dr Borhan also highlighted that Michaels’ health is further complicated by his lifelong diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes. This condition can impair healing and increases the risk of severe infections, which are serious concerns given the invasive nature of the surgery he has undergone. “The demanding nature of a high-intensity tour schedule makes it impossible to maintain the sterile environments, strict hydration schedules, frequent rest, and precise blood glucose management required for his safe recovery,” she noted.

In a Facebook post dated July 22, Michaels shared details of his health ordeal with fans, revealing that the kidney stone pain persisted even through three of his concerts. He posted a photo from his hospital bed and reiterated his appreciation for the frontline medical workers who provided him with care during this time. He described his relief at finally having the operation completed after enduring prolonged discomfort, stating he is now focused on recovering fully before returning to the stage.

In 2025, Michaels had also spoken about his need to reassess his touring commitments after a diabetes scare that affected his ability to perform. He has candidly discussed the challenges that come with managing diabetes alongside a demanding career, and reiterated his commitment to prioritising his health.
