Bruno Mars, the renowned singer, couldn’t resist poking fun at recent rumours suggesting he was grappling with gambling debts. The 39-year-old artist took to Instagram on Tuesday, Jan. 28, to address the speculation while celebrating a significant milestone in his music career on Spotify.

In a playful post shared on his Instagram Stories, Mars reposted an update from Spotify revealing that he had become the first artist in Spotify’s history to amass 150 million monthly listeners. Alongside the milestone announcement, Mars jokingly remarked, “Keep streaming! I’ll be out of debt in no time!”

The rumors surrounding Mars’ alleged gambling debts stemmed from online chatter and a report by NewsNation claiming that the Grammy winner owed over $50 million to MGM Resorts. The report suggested that Mars was using his earnings from his Las Vegas residency at Park MGM to settle the purported debt, a claim that MGM Resorts later refuted.
Responding to the speculation, MGM Resorts International clarified in a statement to PEOPLE in March 2024 that Mars had no outstanding debt with the company, emphasising their long-standing partnership based on mutual respect. Mars initially partnered with MGM in 2016, leading to his residency at Park MGM and the opening of his Pinky Ring cocktail bar at Bellagio Resort & Casino.
During an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal in June 2024, Mars light-heartedly addressed the rumours, choosing to embrace the fictional narrative of being a Las Vegas lounge singer in debt to the mob. Despite the persistent speculation, Mars remained focused on his musical endeavours and aspirations in the entertainment industry.
While Mars continues to captivate audiences with his shows and collaborations, his recent work with Sexxy Red on the track “Fat Juicy & Wet” demonstrates his ongoing commitment to producing innovative music. The music video for the collaboration features appearances by Lady Gaga and Blackpink’s Rosé, showcasing Mars’ diverse range of musical partnerships.
As Mars gears up for the upcoming Grammy Awards, where his song “Die with a Smile” is nominated for multiple categories, including best pop duo/group performance, fans eagerly anticipate his next musical ventures and creative projects. With a dedicated fanbase and a string of successful collaborations, Mars remains a dynamic force in the music industry, poised for continued success and artistic innovation.
